Vision

“You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you” (John 15:16).

Jesus told His followers that He was like a vine and that we were like the branches that spring from that vine. He is our source of life and strength. As we relate to Him, He causes us to “bear fruit” – to display the tangible, outward manifestations of a very real inner transformation. Jesus also calls His followers to relate to one another in an atmosphere of godly love and grace. Covenant Church of Mobile is a spiritual family of committed followers of Jesus Christ, rooted in His Word, caring for one another, and extending the Good News of His Kingdom in our city and our world.

“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:13-16).

Jesus calls His followers to be “salty” – to have integrity, to be cohesive, and to be prophetically influential in our homes, neighborhoods, schools, in the marketplace, and in government…in short, wherever people are. He also says that His Church is a light that brings hope and guidance in a world filled with fear and darkness. Light doesn’t just happen by talking about it; this light shines in good works which naturally spring up out of real faith and relationship with Jesus. Covenant Church is not only called to say “Glory to God,” but to act in such a way that causes our city to say, “Glory to God.” Worship is so much more than music – it is a lifestyle.

God’s glory is His goodness and mercy. Our vision is to be rightly related to Jesus so that His glory would radiate in and through our lives, touching others with His saving and healing power. We pray the prayer of Jesus, that His righteous, peaceful, and joyful Kingdom in the Holy Spirit would be seen here on earth, as it is in Heaven.
